How to Crochet a Heart-Winged Pegasus

Here’s how to crochet a heart-winged pegasus!

The year of the horse begins just a few days after Valentines Day in 2026, so I couldn’t help but give the horse some heart-shaped wings to celebrate both holidays.

This heart-winged pegasus makes an adorable amigurumi project to crochet for Valentines Day, themed events or markets, gifting to a loved one, or simply making something adorable.

Here’s how to crochet the heart wings and where to sew them on. The rest of the pegasus is made in the same way as the horse.

I suggest crocheting the horse first, but you’re welcome to crochet the heart wings first if you’d like and refer back to the sewing instructions later.

How to turn the horse into a pegasus:

Yarn

For the yarn in the sample pictures of the pegasus, I used Bernat Blanket in shades: Lotus, Baby Pink, and Pixie Pink.

Skills & Abbreviations (In U.S. terms)

MR= Magic Ring

SL ST= Slip Stitch

HDC= Half Double Crochet

DC= Double Crochet

CH= Chain

FO= Fasten Off

R= Round

Heart Wing (Make 2)

R1 In a MR, CH 3, 2 DC, 2 HDC, DC, 2 HDC, 2 DC, CH 2, SL ST (15)
FO leaving a long tail for sewing.

Use a needle to weave the yarn tails to the bottom of the wing (the point at the bottom of the heart shape). 

Use the yarn tails to sew the bottom of the wings around R8 and 9 on the back of the body and around 2 to 3 stitches apart from each other. If you haven’t made the horse yet, you can find the pattern here.
